calling number id blocking
There may be times when you do not wish your telephone number to be displayed. FairPoint Communications offers two options to prevent your number from being revealed to anyone who has either Calling ID service or a similar service from another telephone company.
Per Call Blocking is automatically provided to all customers even if you don't subscribe to Calling ID. You can prevent your number from being displayed for one call simply by pressing *67 (1167 for rotary dial) before placing the call.
How to use Calling Number Delivery Blocking:
- At the dial tone, press *67.
- Listen for the second dial tone and place your call.
- Your information will display as "Private".
To deactivate Calling Number Delivery Blocking:
- At the dial tone, press *82. (1182 for rotary dial)before placing the call.
All Call Blocking prevents your number from being displayed for all calls made on your line. To activate this service, please call a customer service representative.
Either blocking method prevents the called party from using Call Return (*69) to return your call. You can verify that Call Blocking is activated be calling toll free 392.4536.
